The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, (JAMB) and heads of tertiary institutions in Nigeria have fixed the minimum cut-off marks for Universities and Polytechnics 2022 admissions.

This was disclosed at the 2022 policy meeting held on Thursday, 21st July, 2022 by the Minister of Education in Abuja which was earlier announced on JAMB official Twitter handle in June 21st, 2022.

After much deliberation, a minimum cut-off marks were set for Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges of Education.

The cut-off marks which was fixed for universities pegged at 140 while that of Polytechnics and Colleges of Education was fixed at 100 as minimum.

In the meeting, there was also a review of admission criteria to give 10per cent discretional power of admission to heads of tertiary institutions.

The cut-off marks was announced by the Registrar of JAMB, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, after votes by vice chancellors of universities, rectors of polytechnics, and provosts of colleges of education.

According to Professor Ishaq, the implication is that every institution has the right to fix its own cut-off mark even up to 220.
