Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau Announces Separation From His Wife, Sophie Gregoire Trudeau After 18 Years Of Marriage

On Wednesday, August 2, 2023, the Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau announced that he and his wife, Sophie Gregoire Trudeau have separated after much consideration.

In a brief statement issued by the 51-year-old Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau on his verified Instagram page, he said after "many meaningful and difficult conversations" he and his wife Sophie Gregoire Trudeau have "made the decision to separate."

He also added that they remained a close family with deep love and respect for each other and for everything he and Sophie have built.

The wife, Sophie Gregoire Trudeau who is a former model and television host also made similar post on her verified Instagram page.

Justin and Sophie got engaged on October 18, 2004 after visiting his family mausoleum in Saint-Remi-de-Napierville, Quebec. The two love birds tied the knot on May 28, 2005 in a Catholic ceremony at Sainte-Madeleine d'Outremont Church in Montreal and their marriage is blessed with three beautiful children.Two sons, Xavier, Hadrien, and a daughter Ella-Grace.

PM, Justin Trudeau's statement on Instagram reads;

"Hi everyone, Sophie and I would like to share the fact that after many meaningful and difficult conversations, we have made the decision to separate.

“As always, we remain a close family with deep love and respect for each other and for everything we have built and we will continue to build. 

For the well-being of our children, we ask that you respect our and their privacy. Thank you."
