I'm Grateful To God - Lionel Messi Says

Popular Argentine footballer, Lionel Messi has said he is grateful to God for the talent he gave him.

The Inter Miami captain who recently spoke at the American Business Forum in Miami, also reflected on the sacrifices he has made throughout his football career.

During the interview, when asked about leading Argentina to their first World Cup title since 1986, Messi said the triumph marked the highest point in his career. "As a player, winning the World Cup is the best," he said. "After the World Cup, you can't ask for anything more."

Messi joined Inter Miami midway through 2023, won the MLS MVP award last season, and is a leading candidate to retain the honour this year.

The 38-year-old and Inter Miami will host Nashville SC on Saturday in a decisive Game 3 of their first-round playoff series in Fort Lauderdale.

According to a post shared by Touchline on X, Messi said;

"I've always said that God gave me talent and I've had it since I was a child, but I made a lot of sacrifices and effort".

"I'm grateful to God because he gave me the most important thing."

In 2024, US-based sports company ESPN named Messi the greatest player of the 21st-century. He has won more than 45 trophies, and won the most recent edition of the FIFA World Cup with Argentina in Qatar. His individual achievements include eight Ballon d'Or awards, the most for any footballer.
