FG Officially Engaged 222 Independent Monitors In Zamfara

On 30th of June, the Federal government of Nigeria through the Minister of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouq, officially engaged 222 Independent Monitors In Gusau, Zamfara State by giving each and everyone of them engagement letters and tablets.

This information was disclosed on the official Instagram and facebook handle of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development yesterday.

The Independent Monitors were been trained to monitor the beneficiaries within their localities.



The tablets given to them came with application that will enable them carryout their various duties properly.

In 2016, the National Social Investment Programme (NSIP) which was the initiative of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration was setup to mainly reduce the rate of unemployment and poverty in the country, through a number of Social Interventions Programme like; N-POWER, National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme (NHGSFP), the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP), and recently the Conditional Cash Transfer Programme (CCT).

To ensure adequate monitoring of the programme, the Minister Sadiya Umar Farouq urged the Independent Monitors to carryout their assignment with utmost sense of patriotism, diligence and sincerity.

The Minister also charged them to use the devices which have been equipped for the purpose of monitoring activities of the Social Investment Programmes of the Federal government.

She further stated that the application allows the Ministry to have visibility up to the local government level. That it would guide them in ensuring that the programmes are working in line with their objectives, and also task the states to ensure they meet up with their deliverables towards effective implementation of the Programmes. Adding that it would help them deliver on their mandate and contribute to Mr. President’s vision of lifting 100 million Nigerians out of Poverty.

Sadiya Umar said that each Independent Monitor would be assigned to monitor a designated number of beneficiaries of the National Social Investment Programme and each will be paid a monthly stipend of N30,000, based on 80% of their deliverables which qualifies them to earn their stipends.

She finally commended the Federal government on it's efforts in making sure that this programme is moving as planned.

The Independent Monitors commented and ensuring of being diligent on their duties.

They also appreciated the Federal government for giving them the opportunity of being among the selected people.
