“Our Nigerian Parents Really Do Many Of Us Strong Things”- Terry G Speaks On How Poor Upbringing Affects Children Even Into Adulthood

Nigerian rapper, Gabriel Oche Amanyi better known by his stage name Terry G has taken to his social media handle to share how poor upbringing affects children negatively even to their adulthood.

The afrobeats singer, Terry G said that poor  parental upbringing is the major cause of some challenges being faced by most Nigerians today.

Terry G on his X post, stated that negative words spoken by parents can damage children’s self-esteem, which may affect them adversely all through their adulthood.

He further added that when people express self-doubt or say they can’t achieve certain things life, they are only echoing what they often heard from their parents while growing up.

The singer conclusively told Nigerians to break the cycle and change their mindsets towards what they heard growing up which has made them to be stuck in failure.

Terry G wrote;

"Our Nigerian parents really do many of us strong thing . The point I’m making is this, when you come under my post saying you’ll never make it that’s not really you speaking, it’s the voice of what you grew up hearing at home. When you say “you can’t do this, you can’t do that you’re only repeating what your father and mother told u growing up. Now you see you’ve carried that same energy into adulthood, and that’s why many are stuck in failure. It’s time to break that cycle. It’s time to change that mindset."
